The organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Charterhouse, began unveiling the nominees for the 24th annual event on March 18th. The nominees were announced hourly from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on the Ghana Music Awards’ Facebook page and CharterhouseLive on YouTube and TV3. The final announcement, revealing the nominees for the Big 5 Categories: Best New Artiste, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year, and Artiste of the Year, was set to take place at 9:00 pm. The 24th Annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was officially launched in January 2023, and submissions of works published between January 1st and December 31st, 2022, were invited. Charterhouse assured that the selection of the most deserving artists was made through careful analysis of data, lyrics, and production. Vodafone sponsored the event, while some of Ghana’s top musicians performed at the event. Black Sherif, known for global hits like “Kweku The Traveller,” has been tipped as a possible winner of the Artiste of the Year award, which KiDi, a Lynx Entertainment signee, won last year.
