Ghana’s national team forward, Jordan Ayew, openly acknowledged the current lack of cohesion within the squad. He stressed the need for the team to put in extra effort to significantly enhance their performance.
Following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Mexico and a devastating 4-0 loss to the USA during friendlies in Charlotte and Nashville, Ayew highlighted the challenges the team is facing. A first-half brace from Giovanni Reyna, along with goals from Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun, secured a resounding win for the USA.
In a post-match press conference, the experienced forward expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to improve. He emphasized that while they are aware of their current level, they must work diligently to build synergy and adapt to playing together. Ayew acknowledged the importance of time but also recognized that football can be unforgiving, pushing the team to give their best to elevate their collective performance.
These high-profile friendlies served as a valuable test for Ghana as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers starting next month and the 2023 AFCON scheduled for early next year.
