FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023: Participating Countries Revealed

The FIFA U-17 World Cup, a prestigious international men’s youth football tournament held biennially, is set to mark its 19th edition in 2023. Scheduled to take place from November 10 to December 2, 2023, this year’s tournament will be hosted by Indonesia, making it the first FIFA event ever held in Southeast Asia. This milestone also represents Indonesia’s debut as a host nation for a FIFA tournament.

Following the successful FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand back in 2012, Southeast Asia has been selected as the region for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The competition returns after a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Brazil currently reigning as the defending champion after securing their fourth title in 2019.

Originally designated to be hosted by Peru in 2021, the event faced a postponement due to unforeseen circumstances. Ultimately, Peru withdrew as the host for the 2023 edition due to infrastructure concerns following extensive discussions between the Peruvian Football Federation and FIFA. As a result, FIFA promptly initiated a replacement bidding process to select a new host.

On June 23, 2023, FIFA officially declared Indonesia as the new host for the tournament. This decision is believed to have been influenced by Argentina being granted the hosting rights for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, following Indonesia’s objection to the Israeli team’s participation in that particular event.

Now, let’s take a look at the list of countries that have successfully secured their places in the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023:
