Felix Afena-Gyan explained why he ‘quit’Black Stars.

Felix Afena-Gyan clarifies his decision to step back from the Black Stars.

Felix Afena-Gyan, the talented striker for Cremonese, has spoken out regarding rumors of his departure from the Ghana national team at all levels. He clarified that he has not quit playing for the national team but has rather chosen to temporarily put his international career on hold.

The 20-year-old refuted reports suggesting that he has completely quit playing for Ghana, stating that they are untrue. During an interview with Sports Obama on YouTube, he expressed that the situation is currently on pause, and the future will reveal what happens next.

Despite playing a significant role in Ghana’s qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Afena-Gyan has not received a call-up since November 2022, when he was part of the provisional squad for the World Cup in Qatar but did not make the final list.

Following several instances of being sidelined by the Black Stars, the striker declined the call-up to play for Ghana-U23 in the 2023 U-23 AFCON qualifier in March 2023. However, the Black Meteors, against the odds, managed to secure qualification for the tournament, which is scheduled to commence on June 24, 2023.
