Everton is considering Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech as a replacement for Anthony Gordon during the January transfer window

Everton Football Club is reportedly interested in signing Chelsea’s winger, Hakim Ziyech, as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon

Everton Football Club is reportedly interested in signing Chelsea’s winger, Hakim Ziyech, as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon. According to a source, Everton is willing to pay up to £25m for the 29-year-old Moroccan, who has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since joining the club in the summer of 2020 from Ajax. Despite being signed for a transfer fee of £33.3m, Ziyech has only made six starts for Chelsea in all competitions this season and has failed to score in his 15 appearances.

While Everton has denied making a formal bid for Ziyech, the club is said to be in talks with Newcastle over a deal for Anthony Gordon, with one source indicating that the move is getting closer. The 21-year-old Gordon is not currently training with the Everton first team at Finch Farm, and Newcastle is looking to replace Chris Wood, who recently joined Nottingham Forest.

Although not a like-for-like replacement, Newcastle sees Gordon as a player who can operate in a number of positions across the front line. The club sees the young player as a valuable addition to the team and someone who can help fill the void left by the departure of Chris Wood.

The transfer window is open, and the future of both Ziyech and Gordon remains uncertain. Chelsea is considering letting Ziyech leave this January, but it remains to be seen whether Everton will make an official offer for the Moroccan winger. Similarly, the talks between Everton and Newcastle over Gordon are ongoing, and it is yet to be seen whether a deal will be reached.

In any case, it is clear that both Everton and Newcastle are looking to strengthen their teams as they look to compete for a spot in the top of the table. Ziyech and Gordon are talented players who have the potential to make a significant impact on their respective teams, and it will be interesting to see how things unfold in the coming days and weeks.
