Charles Bissue arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after voluntarily surrendering himself on Wednesday.
On June 21, 2023, at 11:45 am, Mr. Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue turned himself in to the OSP and was immediately taken into custody. He was interviewed and subsequently released on bail.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday afternoon, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng confirmed the arrest.
Earlier, the OSP had declared Charles Bissue a wanted person after he failed to respond to an invitation related to an ongoing investigation into suspected corruption within the dissolved IMCIM. The OSP considered his failure to honor the invitation as a significant obstruction to the investigation, prompting them to declare him wanted.
It is worth noting that Mr. Bissue had initiated legal proceedings against the OSP in December 2022, filing a Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim to prevent prosecution following corruption allegations made by Tiger Eye P.I. and Anas. In January 2023, he further amended the writ and filed an injunction to restrain the OSP from continuing the investigation and prosecution.
